HAIR LOSS

HAIR LOSS

The commonly-known causes of hair loss and its corresponding treatments are listed below:

  1. Androgenic alopecia for male pattern baldness. Also occurs in women. Topical Minoxidil 5% and oral Propecia (only for men) are effective in arresting hair loss and encouraging new hair growth. Biostimulation lasers have also been found to be useful.
  2. Alopecia Areata. Localised, circumscribed hair loss. Thought to be caused by local immune defects in the scalp. Occasionally, eyebrows may also be affected. Responds well to intralesional steroid injections.
  3. Telogium effluvium. In this condition, there is a generalised increase in hair shedding. The underlying trigger is a stressful event that caused a shock to the hair follicles, causing an increased proportion of hair follicles to jump from growth stage to resting stage which is the stage before physiological shedding. Some common triggers include a systemic illness, psychological stress, a drug reaction, major surgery, crash diets, hormonal upheavals. Normal regrowth of hair can be expected in 6-12 months. Topical Minoxidil 5% may be helpful.

REGENERA ACTIVA

regenera activa | Chelsea Clinic

Regenera Activa was developed in Spain as a treatment that uses capillary regeneration to help fight hair loss. This technology has been clinically tested and is backed by extensive research.

Recommended for those afflicted by average or mild hair loss. Micro-grafts containing active hair follicles are taken from the scalp and are used to regenerate new hair follicles and reactivate older inactive hair cells. The extracted cells are placed in a solution to make them more absorbable prior to the reintroduction procedure.

The extracted solution is then injected into areas with lesser hair. Denser hair growth is then seen across 12 months with some patients noticing visible results after a month.

STEM CELL THERAPY

stem cell therapy | Chelsea Clinic

Stem Cell Therapy, as the name suggests, works from the foundation of hair stems. This technology is derived from the Mesenchymal Stem Cells of the Umbilical Cord Lining, found to be the richest source of stem cells in the body. By using Mesenchymal Stem Cells, we are able to stimulate signal and growth factors that influence the hair growth process. This helps to restore the normal hair follicle cycle, reduce scalp-derived inflammatory proteins, support existing hair follicle, and conditions the skin on your scalp.

When using this advanced hair system in conjunction with various delivery techniques, visible results can be seen 35 days from the first session with optimal results being seen at the 120-day mark.
